Weaver at handloom in Varanasi
Origin Story

The Master Weavers
of Varanasi

For centuries, the narrow, winding alleys of Varanasi (Banaras) have echoed with the rhythmic clack-clack of wooden handlooms. This ancient city, resting on the banks of the Ganges, is not just the spiritual capital of India—it is the historic epicenter of the world's most luxurious silk weaving.

A Lineage of Craftsmanship

The art of Banarasi weaving is passed down through generations. Our master weavers belong to families who have spent their entire lives perfecting the Kadwa, Kadhua, and Phekwa techniques. It takes anywhere from a few weeks to six months for a single artisan to weave one of our exquisite sarees, thread by meticulous thread.

"A Banarasi saree is not manufactured; it is composed, much like a symphony, on the loom."

The Zari and The Silk

We source only the purest Mulberry silk and authentic zari (metallic thread). Historically, Varanasi weavers used pure gold and silver threads for royalty. Today, the tradition continues with tested zari that retains its brilliant luster for decades, ensuring every Shri Geeta Saree becomes a cherished heirloom.
